An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two young males aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person fell ill at the facility in July.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer program which he managed.
The man played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the next day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC stated objects including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his concerns.
She stated Ruben proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police once more.
She stated Ruben then played the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
